Greener power for a greener planet

Everybody talks about environmental protection

Together we can do something about it

  • Sourcing environment-friendly components
  • Producing environment-friendly machines
  • Buying environment-friendly products

As the world’s largest engine manufacturer, Honda, together with those OEM’s using its engines, has been working hard to make people’s lives comfortable by creating products to ‘Help People Get Things Done’.  Nowadays, more than ever, safeguarding the environment is one of society’s main concerns.  From the earliest days of the company, Honda has worked hard to address the environmental challenges of each era, and we will continue to do so.

Honda has decided voluntarily to pursue further emissions reduction for all general purpose engines sold in Europe. This time, Honda is not only tackling exhaust gas emissions, but also the evaporative emissions of Petrol (HC*). “HC *” is known as a cause of urban ozone.

With every engine in the range, considerable efforts have been made to reduce the burden on the environment. Compared with engines meeting the Euro2 regulations – the most severe in Europe – we have achieved:

  • 17% lower HC+NOx*.  Based on our 2006 sales volume and considering the total estimated engine lifetime, this implies a total reduction of 1237 tonnes of HC+NOx*  per year in Europe alone.

  • 84% lower evaporative emissions (HC*).  Taking into account the total number of GX single cylinder engines sold in one year, this implies a total reduction of evaporative emissions of 1949 kg per day of HC*.
